The Rise of Options and Volatility – Bill Brodsky

In April of 1973, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) was created. Originally an offshoot of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), members of the CBOT were free to enter the CBOE – just across the street – and trade options contracts if they chose to. The tunnel these traders used still connects the two buildings today, but the entrances to the tunnel are locked.
Bill Brodsky, former CEO and current Chairman of the Board for the CBOE, discusses the CBOE’s history and gives an explanation and comparison of options and futures contracts. He stresses that if you are interested in futures trading, then it is equally important to understand the options trading process. Brodsky is proud of the hard work and innovation the CBOE has accomplished throughout its 40+ year history, and he believes there is still much more innovation to come from the new generations of business professionals.
